Review: Asics gel kayano 18 - blue with pimped out laces!

New shoes time!  I have treated myself to another pair of ASICS gel-kayano 18 - this time in blue.  Sweatshop have a one week special deal where ASICS Kayano 18 are half price and the Telegraph are offering a voucher which allows a further £10 to be taken off of the price.

(These shoes actually came with blue and black laces, but I have changed them for neon yellow laces - I prefer shoes to be bright and pimping the laces just felt the right thing to do!)

So what are these shoes like to run in?

Well the official wording for these ASICS Kayano 18 shoes is: "A number of ASICS innovative technologies deliver a running shoe ideal for the overpronator requiring high levels of cushioning and comfort... The new ASICS GEL-KAYANO 18 stays true to its successful reputation between runners, improving upon its famous ride with technically advanced features that consist of a new faster, lighter upper construction, ideal for the serious runner and newly designed Dynamic DuoMax® for improved platform comfort and pronation support."

My view is more simple.  My previous shoes were OK but I was starting to get a little bit of knee pain.  These Kayano 18 shoes give structured support around the foot (the dark blue bits are a sort of plastic 'skeleton') and seem to have more cushioning.  You kind of bounce along when you run in them and they look great too.

These are a fine pair of running shoes - and even better because they are currently a fraction of the price that they should be!
